CPRAM Expands “CPRAM GREEN LIFE” Initiative to Northern Thailand, Aiming to Increase Green Spaces Nationwide for 12th Consecutive Year

Bangkok, 22 July 2025 — CPRAM Company Limited (CPRAM), a leader in the ready-to-eat food industry, reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability through the 12^th CPRAM GREEN LIFE project. Executives and employees from the CPRAM’s Lamphun branch joined residents in Mae Tha District, Lamphun Province, to plant over 200 trees across more than 2,000 square meters. This collaboration between the government, private, and community sectors aims to expand green spaces and enhance carbon absorption in the northern region. The initiative was presided over by Mr. Yothin Prasongkhuarmdi, Vice Governor of Lamphun, who was welcomed by Mr. Kobchai Kongtavee, Senior General Manager of CPRAM Company Limited.

The 12^th ‘CPRAM GREEN LIFE’ project is part of CPRAM’s ongoing effort to address climate change through tangible, nature-based solutions. The initiative focuses on expanding green areas to boost natural carbon storage. To date, CPRAM has planted over 54,412 trees across more than 358,400 square meters (224 rai) and distributed more than 86,449 seedlings nationwide, raising environmental awareness in communities across all regions. With a high tree survival rate, the project is estimated to offset 3,920 tons of CO₂ equivalent (tCO₂eq), with a projected cumulative reduction of over 28,430 tons in the next decade. Beyond carbon capture, the initiative contributes to oxygen production, climate mitigation, and a healthier environment for future generations.

Planting perennial plants like Yang trees offers both environmental and economic benefits, thanks to their drought resistance and adaptability to various terrains. A highlight of this year’s reforestation effort is the introduction of turtle liver mushroom spores into the soil alongside the seedlings. These mushrooms enhance forest ecology by promoting tree growth, strengthening root systems, aiding phosphorus absorption, and helping prevent root diseases. They also help retain soil moisture, supporting healthier plant development. Beyond ecological impact, turtle liver mushrooms serve as a valuable food source and a source of income for local communities. This approach reflects a deep understanding of local needs. It fosters meaningful community participation in natural resource conservation and forest restoration.

In addition to strengthening the food system to support the sustainable growth of Thailand’s food industry—from production to consumption—CPRAM remains committed to its environmental mission.
